Peristaltic Pump Heads

The Fast-Load pump head is the preferred pump head for use with our MP-1 and MP-2 Pump Drives. It works with most flexible tubing with a 1/16 inch wall thickness and an outer diameter of 7/16 inch or less.

The flow rate of each pump head depends upon the speed of the pump drive and the size of the tubing. Larger tubing gives higher flow rates and faster drive rates give higher flow rates.

One, 2, or 3 pump heads can be used with each pump drive. No matter how many pump heads are in use, each piece of pump tubing can be easily replaced in less than 10 seconds without disturbing any of the other pieces of tubing. Special hardware, however, is required to mount multiple pump heads to a single drive; order part number 146823 to mount 2 heads and part number 146828 to mount 3 heads.

Pump Tubing

Of course, In a peristaltic pump, the tubing is the only material that is in contact with the working fluid so you'll need to get some tubing to use in the pump head.

For most applications, silicone is the tubing of choice, it provides the longest life in a pump head and has reasonably good chemical compatibility. Vinyl tubing is less expensive but has a much shorter life. If you routinely run the tubing to near it's end of life, then vinyl would actually be more expensive. Fluoroelastomer tubing lasts longer when pumping hydrocarbon solvents, but is significantly more expensive than either silicone or vinyl

MP-1 & MP-2 Pump Drives

You'll need a drive to make the pump head turn, our MP-1 Drive is used for lower flow rates (0.03 to 228 ml/min) while our MP-2 Drive is used for high flow rates (0.4 to 2280 ml/min).
